Artificial intelligence has been a hot topic for discussion for decades. As we progress to achieve the full potential the AI can bestow upon our species, we become increasingly aware of the dangers associated with it. Even such tech giants as Bill Gates and Elon Musk have repeatedly discussed the potential dangers this new, unexplored field will be inevitably posing to us. The solution proposed by them is to start regulating and employing the expertise from IT field in advance, to safeguard ourselves pre-emptively. Even though some would say that such approach is alarmist and we still have a long way to go before true AI will even be created, it is true that machine learning system, which is a precursor to AI, has been seeing a wide use throughout our economy. One of the biggest implications AI may have on our lives is affecting our privacy in an increasingly digital world. Most, if not all of our information is stored in digital form and keeping it safe from cyber terrorists and hackers should be number one priority for anyone who knows what’s good for them. When AI comes into the equation, we should be aware that not only will it help us to better secure our privacy, but as with any other, it can be used to illegally access it too.
Privacy: Threats and benefits of A.I.
Artificial intelligence has the potential to become a real game changer for us. Automatisation of a more and more complex task it can perform will surely lead the world into a new and interesting place. It has a power to turn the world into a utopia, or, if used unwisely, turn our future society into a dystopia. Even though it stands out so much from other advanced technologiesof the last century, the implications of it are much similar. Take for example nuclear power, or any other advances in military technology we have experienced over the last 100 years. Everyone was trying to get an edge over there adversary but only managed to achieve this for a very short period of time. The rival side always managed to compensate and form a stalemate with competitors. As a result, we live in a world where there are not large scale conflicts between developed countries, but at the same time, there is a potential that we can face total annihilation with a single button pressed.

The use of A.I from the security perspective, will not only be used to protect our information but also to steal it. A nation might use this technology to leverage information on each other and use it for blackmail. The difference being that AI will keep advancing constantly and the competition will be intense. It is weird to think that the actual process of using AI for security measures is pretty dull and revolves around managing passwords and constantly monitoring the activity, in search for any illegal attempts to access private information. One thing is true for sure, this new automated system will safeguard us from most of the cyber attacks from deviant individuals, however, the competition between rival powers will become more intense.
