Google’s plan to make its fast-loading AMP tech a new web standard

We all know Google’s achievement in technology since it was established in 1998. If they announce new solutions or applications, it becomes the trendsetter.But this time it’s different than usual and they have made an announcement to transform the internet as we know it, especially for mobile. Yes, we are talking about Google’s Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) project. This team is going to change the browsing experience on our smartphones.

So, how do we browse on mobile?

In short, when you open a browser on your mobile and enter a web address, it sends a request to the hosted server of that site via internet protocol and the server responds with the associated files. But the problem comes when the server cannot determine whether you are requesting from a computer or smartphone, or there isn’t any mobile version available to send to your smartphone. In this case, if you receive the desktop version of the site, it will take longer to complete the browsing process. To solve this problem, Google developed the Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) project.

How does AMP work?

Google is taking mobile browsing to the next level with AMPl. They said, browsing with AMP offers a pre-loaded version of the site in a mobile friendly way which requires less time.  These pages are the pages that get pulled in to Google’s “Top Stories.” In a blog of AMP project they mentioned, “Based on what we learned from AMP, we now feel ready to take the next step and work to support more instant-loading content based. on AMP technology.”

Initially, AMP will make caches for the “Top Stories” and prepare a mobile-friendly version. When the user will send a request for the pages, they will receive it from AMP. And, if there aren’t any caches available, AMP will start caching new contents based on user’s requests. In order to keep running AMP, Google stated that using AMP gives the user an efficient, better and fastest browsing experience.

How will it change the web?

Users will receive the data from AMP enabled websites as fast as possible. Moreover, it will be easy to navigate as well. Sounds good? There is more to it. Though web was built for a desktop based experience, yet today half of the Google searches come from a mobile. Based on the ratio, Google took a step to make the browsing using smartphones more efficient.

Moreover, making the web pages mobile-friendly is also a good business for Google. Nearly two billion-monthly active Android user have Google apps on their smartphones and uses Google to search for information on the internet. If Google search result doesn’t work as efficiently as the competitors such as Facebook or Apple News, this enormous users might move to them instead of searching on Google. And, possibly the inbuilt browser will be the choice. Google clearly announced that it won’t take too long to make a wide-range of stories, contents, and sites using AMP. VP of search engineering dept. of Google, David Debris said, “This is honestly a fairly altruistic project from our perspective.”

Thus, benevolence and good business are going to overlap. And, smartphone users are going to get a new era of browsing.
